Davie Just Gave Its Restaurant Scene a Name for the First Time

Davie Just Gave Its Restaurant Scene a Name for the First Time

  • August 13, 2026

Drive down South University Drive this week and you'll pass three different kinds of new signage in under two miles: a laminated table tent advertising a fixed-price dinner, a bright green storefront that used to be a food truck, and a permit notice taped to glass where a bubble tea shop is about to move in. None of these are connected to each other on paper. All three showed up within the same few weeks. That's not a coincidence of timing so much as a town deciding, for the first time, to put its restaurant scene on a calendar.

The program behind the table tents is called Savor Davie, and it's the Town of Davie's first coordinated dining promotion. It runs from August 1 through September 15, 2026, and it gives eight local restaurants a shared spotlight and a shared set of rules: three courses, one price, no surprise upcharges. If you've lived here long enough to remember when the only way to hear about a new restaurant was a neighbor's Facebook post, this is a different kind of signal. The town isn't just tolerating its dining scene anymore. It's organizing it.

The Town Has Never Run a Restaurant Month Before

Savor Davie asks each participating restaurant to build a three-course prix-fixe menu, an appetizer, an entrée, and a dessert or approved substitute, at a single advertised price with tax and gratuity handled separately. Restaurants aren't allowed to tack on extra fees once you're seated. That structure matters less for what it costs you and more for what it tells you: this is the Town of Davie's own program, built and administered by the town itself, not a marketing push from a chamber of commerce or a single restaurant group. Davie has never run anything like this before. The closest prior effort was a shop-local campaign called How Can I Help, done in partnership with Cooper City and the local chamber. Savor Davie is narrower, food-only, and it comes with an actual enforcement mechanism: restaurants that don't honor the promotion for the full window aren't supposed to be listed.

What Three Courses Actually Costs You Around Town

Here's what a three-course dinner runs at the restaurants confirmed for the program so far:

Restaurant What You're Getting Three-Course Price
Geronimos Grill (5810 S. University Drive) Wings, burgers, comfort food $35
Black Jack's Rum Bar & Grille Caribbean-inspired grilled meats, rum bar $45
The Greek Joint Kitchen & Bar (5810 S. University Drive) Gyros, moussaka, seafood $45
Ovivi's Hand-cut steaks, seafood, burgers $45
Palace Indian Curries, tandoori, biryani $45
Pho Bar Pho, seafood, specialty drinks $45

Luc's Seafood & Grille, at 5511 S. University Drive, is also part of the lineup, though its specific menu price wasn't included in the town's release. Prices across the program run from $35 up to $60 depending on the restaurant, and it's worth putting that range next to what's happening one town over. Hallandale Eats, running July 13 through August 20, 2026, features about 26 restaurants. Dine Out Lauderdale, also starting August 1, has more than 130 participating. Davie's version tops out at eight. That's not a smaller ambition so much as a different one: a handful of independently owned spots, hand-picked, rather than a citywide free-for-all.

The Corridor Filling In Around the Promotion

Savor Davie didn't happen in isolation. The same stretch of University Drive is picking up new permanent tenants this summer, and both of the notable ones spent years building a following somewhere else before betting on a storefront in Davie.

Monster Burgers opened its first brick-and-mortar location at 2325 S University Dr this summer after operating as a Colombian food truck since 2011. The truck built its name at festivals, breweries, and pop-up events for more than a decade before the family behind it, Julio and Diana, decided a permanent kitchen made sense. Fifteen years of food truck loyalty is now sitting behind a storefront on the same University Drive corridor where Geronimos Grill and The Greek Joint Kitchen & Bar are running their Savor Davie menus.

Puffles, the Hong Kong-style bubble waffle and bubble tea concept, has filed permits for a location at 1855 S. University Drive. It doesn't have an opening date yet. What it does have is three existing locations, in Hollywood Beach, Downtown Miami, and Hard Rock Stadium, and a founder who's been building the brand since 2017. Davie is one of the next stops on a company that's chosen its expansion cities carefully rather than franchising everywhere at once.

Neither of these openings is part of Savor Davie. But they're happening on the same street, in the same season, and they tell you something the promotion alone doesn't: operators who've already proven themselves elsewhere are choosing this corridor now, not five years ago.

Why the Timing Isn't a Coincidence

The Town's own language around Savor Davie is worth reading closely. The stated goal is to spotlight small business owners, family-owned enterprises, and branded eateries, in the town's words, recognizing Davie as "the best place to live, work, learn, play and eat." That's a marketing line, but it's paired with something less visible and more telling.

At the same time Savor Davie is running, the Town of Davie is also conducting a local business survey through September 30, 2026, to analyze current business conditions and identify challenges. The survey specifically asks business owners to weigh in on their experience with permitting, inspections, business tax receipts, and zoning guidance. In other words, the town isn't just promoting its restaurants publicly. It's quietly asking the people running them what's actually getting in the way.

That's the part a restaurant-week write-up usually skips. Davie isn't treating its dining scene as a one-off flyer season. It's running a promotion and a diagnostic in the same summer, which suggests the town is starting to think about its small business corridor the way a city with a real economic development strategy would: market what's working, then go find out what's still friction.

What This Means If You Already Live Here

If you've been meaning to try Palace Indian or Pho Bar but never had a reason to pick a night, you have six weeks and a fixed price to work with. The program ends September 15, not on some rolling basis, so this isn't a standing deal you can circle back to in November. If you've already got Geronimos Grill or The Greek Joint Kitchen & Bar in your rotation, this is the season to try the tasting menu instead of your usual order.

And if you're the kind of person who tracks what opens and closes on your own street, keep an eye on University Drive past September. A food truck that spent fifteen years building loyalty before opening a storefront, a bubble tea brand expanding out from Miami and Hollywood Beach, and a town that just launched its first coordinated restaurant promotion while quietly surveying its own business community are three data points pointing the same direction. Davie's dining scene isn't just having a good month. It's being taken seriously by the people who run the town, for the first time in a way you can actually see on a menu.
